ARENA OF STARS, RESORTS WORLD GENTING

Elaine Kang kick started her career in the 1980s, and to date, has a collection of an astonishing 30 albums to her name (26 Chinese, 1 English and 3 Malay). She has indeed demonstrated her trilingual singing talent and as such attributed to her stability of this characteristic in the music industry.

Being a true ambassador to Malaysia, Elaine has, on many occasions represented Malaysia on the international front via involvement with the Malaysian Tourism Board by performing at the Malaysian Cultural Exchange. In addition to that, she also performed at the ASEAN Top Queen Festival, which was held in various countries including Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, Taiwan, China and Hong Kong.

Elaine also showcased yet another brilliant performance during Tun Dr. Mahathir’s (our then Prime Minister) first visit to China. Elaine was once voted the Top 10 Malaysian Artiste by Nanyang Siang Pau, and also received the Best Performance Award. Her contributions to the music industry (locally and internationally) have earned her an Honorary Fellowship conferred by the London College of Music in the UK.

Elaine Kang became the first artiste in the Malaysian Book of Records to record a Chinese album with the Penang State Symphony Orchestra with support from the State Government. Music aside, Elaine, being a multi-lingual entertainer also acted in a Malay movie “Red Haired Tumbler in Malaya”, and was the first ever Chinese host for a Malay television series “Kisah Benar”.

Elaine’s list of hosting repertoires spans over a range of programmes aired over RTM1, RTM 2, TV3 and Astro. A stint, which she is fondly remembered by, would be hosting the Hitz Game Show, a Cantonese variety programme on TV2 for 4 years.
